Vuyo Lima 03 February 1987 -  03 December 2013

News of the sudden passing of Vuyo was the most devastating and heart breaking I have heard all year. Vuyo was part of the support team for Sober Hearts Africa, mainly involved in film projects. There were two upcoming projects she was going to play a key role in mainly because of her film teaching and film making experience, but more important was that she was good friend. What made Vuyo an outstanding human being was her warm nature accompanied with extraordinary commitment and the amount of heart she applied to anything she did.If something had to be done, money

Zola Songo, Founder of Sober Hearts Africa was invited to help run a 10 day workshop called Music On Troubled Grounds. This was a project aimed to use music as a reconciliation tool between Israeli and Palestinian participants. It was held in South Africa with Israeli, Palestinian, South African and Scandinavian participants.

The project was headed by two organizations. A South African one called Itumeleng Innovation Youth Center and a Swedish organization called Spiritus Mundi.

The project was both equally exciting and challenging. Every hour of the day somehow presented a dilemma which served as opportunity for growth and in the end the project paid off with the most remarkable unexpected friendships and life lessons, not just for the participants but for everyone that was involved.

  • Creating a new narrative on migration and immigration,

  • Religious freedom and

  • The importance of responsible media.

These sessions proved to be challenging, informative and productive and opened a platform for Sober Hearts to work with like-minded individuals and organizations World Wide. TV Interview Link

or no money it would be done. In all the years I knew Vuyo I don't remember seeing her angry or discouraged even in the midst of great turmoil.

Vuyo was a true soldier and an example of how no matter where we come from and what hardships we face, perseverance and a great work ethic will pay off. She didn't have much but she did much with what she had, and most of all she had a dream and the drive to achieve greatness.

We miss you. May you rest in Peace.
